Aan de rand van het Mattheusplein Het kerkplein in Azewijn was tot 1969 een deel van de Leppestraat. In dat jaar kreeg het de naam Mattheüsplein. De spellingen Mattheüsplein en Mattheusplein komen naast elkaar voor.
