Openbare Basisschool 't Montferland werd geopend in 1976. Deze school staat op de plaats waar eerst de Willibrordusschool stond. Het eerste schoolhoofd was Guus Dinkla. Het adres is Plantsoensingel Noord 5a.
Voorheen was er een openbare lagere school, de Oudste Poortschool, aan de Oudste Poortstraat.
